myAgro is a non-profit agritech social enterprise based in West Africa. We have developed a mobile savings model that allows farmers to invest their own funds in high-quality seed, fertilizer, and agricultural training to increase their harvest and income by 50-100%. Our North Star is to support 1 million farmers - providing them the tools they need to prosper. About the Role:

myAgro currently seeks a Director of Development to join our development team and to lead and execute a comprehensive strategy for maintaining and increasing funding across all European funder types, including governments, corporations, philanthropic foundations, family offices and high net worth individuals. Working closely with the Development Team, including the Managing Director, US, and the Senior Director of Development, and collaborating with other senior leaders across the organization, this role is responsible for developing and cultivating partnerships with new and existing European funders. The Director of Development is the lead architect and strategist for European fundraising efforts, develops high-quality solicitation and grant reporting materials, and ensures that myAgro builds strong, lasting relationships with all European funders and prospects.  

Development Team Vision

The Development Team ensures myAgro has the resources to implement its new three-year plan, and specifically, the achievement of our three pillars to 

  • Develop new and scalable digital tools that boost cost efficiency while providing an independent, on-demand customer experience
  • Support farmer resilience through income diversification, expanding climate-smart offerings such as agroforestry and poultry.
  • Invest in the organizational growth and capacity building necessary to facilitate this digital-forward transition. 

To do this, we are connected to each other, other teams, the field, and donors. We are productive to ensure we meet our fundraising goals. We approach challenges with a solutions mindset and collaborative spirit. We use our heads and hearts when talking about our work with others.

 

You Will:

In collaboration with the CEO, Managing Director, US and the Senior Director of Development : 

  • Advance myAgro’s plan for securing annual and multi-year funding from European governments, multi-laterals, foundations, corporate donors and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
  • Identify new European / Europe based donors through research and outreach to create and develop a new European donor portfolio.
  • Organize meetings, phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings to engage donors.
  • Collaborate with the other Directors, Development Operations, Grant Management, and Grant Writer to write letters of intent (LOIs), concept notes, proposals, grant reports, and more.
  • Connect with myAgro’s leadership and program teams to stay informed about our activities to communicate the details of myAgro’s work to funders.

 

 

You Have:

  • A deep commitment to the mission, vision, and values of myAgro;
  • A minimum of seven years of professional work experience directly with European funders;
  • A proven track record of successfully securing six-figure and seven-figure multi-year grants;
  • A strong network of relationships with European philanthropic funders, including governments,  foundations, corporates, and family office / high net worth funders.;
  • Previous experience with prospect research and identification strategies;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to effectively and comfortably build relationships with all levels of foundation and government agency staff members, including senior executives;
  • Demonstrated ability for handling multiple, complex fundraising initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment;
  • Willingness and ability to travel;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; French or other languages a plus.
